The launching of the Institute of Maqasid Shariah (INSMAQ) by YB Tuan Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Chairman of the Selangor State Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee on 6th February, 2017 at the Pro-Chancellor Hall, Universiti Selangor, Shah Alam was held as an effort to introduce INSMAQ to UNISEL community and the public and its function in developing the knowledge of Islamic law across all disciplines in life.
UNISEL takes this initiative upon realizing that the university is able to contribute its knowledge and expertise, especially in terms of understanding the concept of shariah. INSMAQ will organize activities, training and research to help the public understand the Islamic religion and guide them towards a knowledgeable and wisdom society.
Along with the launching event was MOU Signing between The Malaysian Institute of Maqasid (MIM) and the UNISEL Centre of Excellence (COE) which includes cooperation in carrying out research and studies, organizing joint seminars and conferences, mobilizing publication and translation of the great works and introducing short-term courses related to Islamic jurisprudence and social.
In conjunction with the MOU Signing, a lecture entitled “Education Empowerment in the Maqasid Perspective” was given by Professor Dr Jasser Auda to an audience of more than 300 people.
